Arrighi
The Arrighi Farm was established over a hundred years ago on the hills overlooking the bay of Porto Azzurro, in the eastern part of Elba Island. Founded in 1920 by the Arrighi and Gavassa families, for most of the 20th century, viticulture was a complementary activity to the hotel business, intended mainly for the consumption of guests. With Antonio Arrighi, the third generation, wine ceased to be a side dish and became the heart of the family project. The vineyard area grew, the winery took shape and a vision combining history, landscape and Mediterranean culture took form. The turning point came with the dialogue between archaeology and the present: the introduction of amphorae and, above all, the birth of 'marine wines', which ideally take us back 2,500 years to the legendary wine of Chios.
The work in the vineyard and in the cellar follows a philosophy of continuous research, now accompanied by conversion to organic farming. The Arrighi winery is an open-air laboratory, where ancient tradition is reinterpreted with scientific rigour and contemporary sensibility. Since 2010, the use of Impruneta terracotta amphorae has allowed for natural micro-oxygenation without aromatic interference, resulting in wines of great expressive purity. Rigorous experimentation is increasingly leading the winery towards an artisanal approach, which aims to reduce intervention in the cellar.
In the glass, Arrighi wines are a direct reflection of Elba, its light and its sea. The Ansonica whites combine structure and depth with a vibrant saline tension, with aromas reminiscent of Mediterranean scrub, aromatic herbs and warm stone. The reds can express great intensity, power and longevity, but always guided by a fresh texture and crisp fruit, never weighed down by wood. All the wines share a strong identity, far from any standardisation, and convey an authentic and profound image of one of the most fascinating territories in the Mediterranean.
