"Piana" is a Barbera d'Alba from Ceretto that comes from grapes sourced from several plots located within the Monsordo Bernardina estate, near Alba, the main location of the winery and the beating heart of all company activities. The vineyards cover a total of about thirty hectares, situated in a hilly area characterized by beautiful sunny exposures and valuable clay-limestone soils. The vineyards are managed under certified organic farming regimes, using only sulfur and copper. The inter-row areas are kept grassy, and the technique of green manuring is practiced to maintain the vitality and fertility of the soils. The best bunches, selected directly in the vineyard during the harvest, are fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The wine matures for several months in steel tanks before being bottled.
