Naturwein

The Barbera d’Alba Tom by Eugenio Bocchino is a greatly typical expression from the Langhe, able to combine round fullness and succulent freshness. Barbera is one of the most widely cultivated varieties in Italy, but it is in Piedmont, its region of origin, that this grape reaches its highest qualitative expression. Its significant spread is mainly attributed to its full body, the softness of its tannins, and its high acidity. In the Langhe, the best exposures are almost exclusively reserved for Nebbiolo, but thanks to its intrinsic qualities, Barbera has managed to maintain its well-deserved space. The name and the design on the label of the red Tom evoke the charming family dachshund.

Eugenio Bocchino Tom Barbera d’Alba DOC is produced from the homonymous grape worked in purity. The vines are located at 400 meters above sea level on clay and limestone soils of white color and are managed according to the practices of organic and biodynamic farming. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel and is carried out by indigenous yeasts with 15 days of contact between the must and the skins. Subsequently, the mass rests between 6 and 10 months in cement and for at least another 12 months in large used barrels, before being bottled without undergoing filtration.

To the eye, Tom Barbera d’Alba by Eugenio Bocchino shows a beautiful intense ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose, aromas of sour cherry, cherry, berries, iris, sweet spices, and pepper chase each other, while the taste is fresh and vibrant, as well as having good body and volume, with a pleasant and velvety tannic texture. A very versatile Piedmontese red wine, able to accompany simple platters of cold cuts and cheeses as well as more structured dishes based on various meats.
