This Barbera d’Asti “Tasmorcan” is a wine conceived and designed by Elio Perrone to tell the fruity and exuberant notes of the starting grape, the Barbera. Elegance, style, and balance are adjectives that aptly describe this label where aromas and flavors move with the lightness of simplicity. A bottle that does not want to be tied to clichés, even aesthetic ones, and is therefore presented with a bottle of very particular silhouette. Cheeses and cold cuts, along with stuffed pasta from the Piedmont tradition and red and white meat dishes are the pairings that testify to the great versatility of this Barbera.
The “Tasmorcan” comes from those vineyards located near Isola d’Asti, more precisely in the hamlet of Mongovone. After the pressing of the grapes, the must ferments in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The subsequent aging takes two paths: 70% of the mass matures in 25-hectoliter oak barrels, while the remaining 30% ages in French oak barriques, for a total of 4months. At the beginning of the spring following the harvest, the team at the Elio Perrone winery proceeds with bottling.
“Tasmorcan” Barbera d’Asti reveals itself to the eye with a concentrated ruby color and a beautiful intensity. The nose is enveloped by a weave of predominantly fruity aromas, enriched by a slight spiciness from which Eastern hints emerge. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a full and round sip, characterized by a fresh taste of beautiful intensity.
