Grillo 'Mozia' Tasca d'Almerita 2025
Grillo di Mozia was born on Tasca d'Almerita's Whitaker Estate on the small island of Mozia, within the Stagnone Nature Reserve of Marsala. An area rich in history and culture, which preserves the archaeological remains of early Phoenician settlements. The sandy soils, rich in limestone, and the proximity of the salt pans provide a fascinating and special habitat for vines. The estate on the island of Mozia covers eight hectares planted with alberello vines, which give a Grillo in which the ripe fruit meets the savory and brackish notes of the sea, to create a marriage of great personality, a true expression of a unique terroir.
Tenuta Whitaker's Grillo di Mozia vineyards produce naturally with low yields, ensuring grapes characterized by remarkable aromatic concentration. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks for a duration of about 15 days. The wine is always aged in stainless steel in contact with the fine lees for about 5 months before bottling.
Tasca d'Almerita produces in Mozia a unique Grillo with an unmistakable profile, strongly marked by the location of the vineyards, cultivated between the salt pans and the sea. In the glass it is straw yellow in color, luminous and brilliant. The bouquet is rich and multifaceted, with floral scents, lime and citrus aromas, fruity notes and iodine hints, reminiscent of the sea breeze. The sip is characterized by a savory freshness, with juicy, lingering notes of ripe yellow fruit, which fade into a pleasantly brackish finish.
