The Nobile di Montepulciano wine is part of those Tuscan wines that showcase the multifaceted personality of Sangiovese in its connection to the territory of origin, almost as if they were the different possible shades of a single color. Avignonesi dedicates 8 of its vineyards to the production of this wine, capable of expressing all the richness of the place. “The terroir speaks, we listen”: this is the motto of the winery, a sign of a profound respect for the territory and the distinctive characteristics of the wine. The enologists at Avignonesi are indeed aware that the true magic is to let the wine speak for itself, intervening as little as possible. That’s why here they work hard in the vineyard even more than in the cellar. No herbicides, no pesticides, and no chemicals, with vineyard management committed to respecting the principles of organic farming and increasingly moving towards a biodynamic approach.

The Sangiovese intended to become the Nobile di Montepulciano of Avignonesi comes from different lots,of property, which are vinified separately to preserve their expressive diversity as much as possible and to combine it best in the final blend. The grapes are harvested and immediately taken to the winery, where they undergo a double selection, both manual and mechanical. The alcoholic fermentation takes place through indigenous yeasts, in order to further enhance the territorial uniqueness. This is followed by malolactic fermentation and a wood aging for about 18 months.

The color of the Nobile Avignonesi wine is bright ruby red. The aromas of red and dark fruit, along with delicate floral tones, are what immediately impact the nose. Balsamic notes, toasted and spicy fragrances open up revealing a complexity in continuous evolution. The fruity imprint also dominates on the palate, which perceives a structured but extremely fine body. It has softness and velvety tannins.  It finishes with good persistence. This is a wine of the land, of territory, of authentic and eloquent complexity, a faithful mirror of a placeenchanting and one of its most authoritative and historic interpreters.
