The Petite Arvine by Ottin is a white wine from the Valle d'Aosta with a fresh and mineral soul, characteristic attributes of the variety and the territory. The Petite Arvine is a grape variety of Swiss origin, more precisely from the Valais canton, imported to Valle d'Aosta in the mid-1900s by Canon Joseph Vaudan, considered one of the architects of the wine renaissance in the region. It is a semi-aromatic variety with late ripening that, preferring cool climates and high altitudes, has found an ideal habitat in Valle d'Aosta, now becoming one of the most cultivated white grapes.
Ottin Valle d'Aosta Petite Arvine is a pure expression of the eponymous white grape variety, grown in sandy soils of morainic origin between 650 and 700 meters above sea level. The vines, planted partly in 1997 and partly in 2014, enjoy an excellent exposure to full south, essential for the correct ripening of the grapes. The harvest is carried out by hand in crates in October, and the grapes are then transferred to the winery and subjected to soft pressing of whole clusters. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel tanks for 2-3 weeks at controlled temperature, followed by maturation for a few months on the fine lees in the same type of wine containers.
The color of the Petite Arvine Valle d'Aosta Ottin is a bright straw yellow with golden reflections. On the nose, rich and varied aromas of citrus, tropical fruit, mulberry flowers, and sage emerge, followed by mineral notes and ginger. The tasting shows balanced, tense, and deep, soft and fresh at the same time, with a pleasant savory trail on the finish. A gastronomic white wine to pair with medium-aged cheeses, flavorful fish, or creamy risottos.
