The “Poggio Cerrino” Rosso di Montalcino is a Tuscan wine that tells the great love of Enzo Tiezzi for each of his creations. In fact, although Rosso di Montalcino is often considered the younger brother of the more renowned Brunello, Enzo is keen to create a product that is meticulously crafted in every detail, where the low yields in the vineyard ensure that the Sangiovese maintains a profile and a personality of great respect. Thus, a label that can also be comfortably uncorked in three or four years, keeping alive the imprint of the Montalcino terroir.

This “Poggio Cerrino” is a Rosso di Montalcino that comes from the grape that symbolizes Tuscan viticulture, the Sangiovese. The vines grow using the spurred cordon system, in vineyards located at an ideal height of 350 meters above sea level. The yields between the rows are intentionally kept low, to bring in few bunches at harvest but always at the qualitative level of the standards sought by the Tiezzi winery. The must ferments for over 20 days in wooden tanks, and the subsequent aging phase takes place in Slavonian oak barrels, for a total of 20 months, after which the wine is ready to be bottled and marketed.

The Rosso di Montalcino “Poggio Cerrino” develops in the glass with an intense color, reminiscent of the shade of ruby. The array of aromas that emerge to the nose tells of predominantly fruity notes, from which very light hints of licorice also emerge in the finish. On the palate it is medium-bodied, harmonious, with a sip characterized by a pleasantly savory taste, which enhances the smoothness of the drink. A label signed by Tiezzi perfect for being enjoyed throughout the meal, paired with risottos and grilled meats.
