Ascesa
The Ascesa winery is a young reality that operates in the splendid territory of Valtellina and is dedicated to a craft production of an excellent mountain Nebbiolo, capable of perfectly expressing the unique character of this wonderful terroir. The winery is located in Tresivio, in the province of Sondrio, and was founded in 2018 thanks to the initiative of four friends passionate about viticulture, who decided to combine their energies to create a new project. The underlying idea is to offer the market quality labels that can tell the authentic face of a viticulture with ancient traditions, which has managed to maintain a strong connection with the places of production.
The estate is located in an absolutely unique context. Valtellina, in fact, is a true exception within the alpine landscape. Valleys usually cut through the mountains following the direction that descends from north to south towards the flatter area. Valtellina, on the other hand, develops along the west-east axis. This orographic peculiarity allows for the northern slope of the valley to be perfectly exposed to the south, with warm and sunny exposures that allow for the cultivation of vines and the ripening of clusters with intense aromas.north of the valley perfectly exposed to noon, with warm and sunny exposures, allowing for the cultivation of vines and the maturation of bunches with intense aromas. The vineyards are cultivated at altitude, often on steep terraces supported by dry stone walls. The cool climate, characterized by strong temperature fluctuations and poor, stony soils, has proven perfect for a demanding and difficult grape variety to cultivate like Nebbiolo.
Ascesa cultivates small parcels, with vines aged between 25 and 80 years, in the Sassella and Grumello areas, among the most prestigious in the territory, always known for the extraordinary finesse and elegance of their wines. The vineyards are located on steep and rugged slopes, requiring labor-intensive manual work, without the aid of machinery. The result of this heroic viticulture is high-quality, healthy, and genuine grapes, capable of producing wines that express elegance and great finesse. A mountain Nebbiolo, fresh, austere, and of great charm.
