Ballantine's

Ballantine's is a renowned brand of Scotch Whisky that has become legendary. Its history dates back to 1827, when the young George Ballantine, at just 19 years old, founded a shop in Edinburgh specializing in the sale of whisky. A few years later, the business expanded to Glasgow, and George began creating Blended Whisky under his own name, relying on extraordinary blending skills and the help of his three sons. In a short time, George Ballantine and Son Ltd became one of the most important Scotch marketing companies in the world: it supplied the Indian royal family and received recognition from Queen Victoria in 1895. Starting in 1910, this brand became inextricably linked to the Finest, the first Blended Scotch produced by George's sons, which has become a global icon over more than a century of history.

Today, Ballantine's is one of the largest and most important whisky brands, acquired by the Pernod Ricard group in 2005. The production is overseen and directed by master blender Sandy Hyslop, a brilliant and prolific professional who sniffs about 250 whisky samples every day to determine the best combinations, ensure a high level of quality, and carry on the legacy of master Jack Goudy, the historic blender. Jack was the first, starting in 1959, to make a significant qualitative leap in production, demanding the best scotch to use as raw material and inaugurating aging in American oak barrels. Today, production is based on various malt distillates from the Miltonduff and Glenburgie distilleries, on 50 Single Malt and 4 Single Grain. After the closure of the Dumbarton Distillery in 2002, much of the production was transferred to the Strathclyde Grain Distillery in Glasgow, but the blending and bottling operations are still in Dumbarton.
