Talcomraja

Talcomraja in Catalan means “unfiltered” or “spontaneously,” and it encapsulates the production philosophy of Joan and Cristina, the founders of the company. Joan holds a degree in environmental science and, at the beginning of the project, took care of restoring old vines and planting new ones. Cristina, on the other hand, is a sommelier and an expert in regenerative agriculture, and she applied these cultivation techniques to the estate’s vineyards. The owners’ vision is to demonstrate that sustainable viticulture without compromises is possible, producing authentic wines.

The Talcomraja plots overlook the Mediterranean Sea and are located about 40 kilometers from Barcelona, in the Alta Maresme region of Catalonia. The vines grow on salò, a highly draining soil rich in granite, found only in this part of Spain. To preserve the health of the land, Joan and Cristina work organically and follow regenerative agricultural practices, using only natural organic matter—no chemicals—while respecting biodiversity and natural cycles. For this reason, during winter, when the vines are not in their productive phase, many animals are allowed to roam freely in the vineyards, naturally turning the soil, aerating it, and clearing invasive vegetation.

Talcomraja is unfiltered in the winery as well. Winemaking follows the same principles as the vineyard: spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts, no addition of acidifiers, flavorings, or sulfur, and no filtration or fining. The production ranges from lively, easy-drinking wines to complex expressions aged in wood or amphora, all tied together by a single thread: the desire to preserve and convey the authenticity of their land in every glass.
