The Etna Rosso “Erse Moscamento 1911” by Tenuta di Fessina is a tribute to local viticulture, a red wine of great depth and expressive strength. What happens when one of the most vocated terroirs in Italy meets an extraordinary sensitive winemaker like Federico Curtaz? It is not the beginning of a story but the preface to one of the realities that has reached an exceptional qualitative level over the years and produces liquids of disarming tasting purity. A relatively young reality, as it was founded in 2007, which has decided to focus on the enhancement of local indigenous grape varieties, so much so that the vineyard of about 7 hectares is cultivated only with Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Carricante. Bottles that, without exaggeration, can be counted among the best qualitative expressions in Italy, of which to stock up until supplies last given the small number of specimens produced.

“Erse Moscamento 1911” is a pure expression of Nerello Mascalese, obtained from very old vines. Given the particular attention to the ripeness of the grapes and the selection of the best bunches, while in the winery, soft destemming and crushing is carried out, alcoholic fermentation in steel with maceration between 6 and 9 days depending on the vintage. The liquid ages in tonneaux and large barrels of 35hl for 24 months, and subsequently one year in the bottle.

“Erse Moscamento 1911” Etna Rosso fills the glass with its lively ruby hues. From the very first olfactory approach, the liquid reveals its immense personality, unfolding notes of pink pepper, graphite, earth, and small red fruits, tracing an engaging territorial picture. The sip is a tribute to the Etna of wine, a meticulous compendium of finesse and compact austerity, which gradually fades away, giving way to a salty finish of a true champion. Purebred.
