Vigneti Cenci
Vigneti Cenci is a sparkling wine from the Franciacorta area, carried out with passion at family level in search of the expressive purity of the territory. The estate is located in the municipality of Cologne, at the foot of Mount Orfano, a promontory that has always been highly suited to viticulture. Nelson Cenci, a doctor, writer and alpine, gave the first steps to the winery in 1960 after he took over La Boscaiola, a charming 17th century farmhouse located in the heart of Franciacorta, which at that time was in a semi-abandoned state. He then began an important work of restructuring the estate and recovery of vineyards, bringing back in a short time the property to its former glory. The business is currently run by Giuliana Cenci, daughter of Nelson, involved in the management of La Boscaiola since the 80s, and by Maurizio Bassi, son of Giuliana and grandson of Nelson. Since 2004 the technical management is then in the hands of Massimo Messina, expert winemaker.
Within the approximately 6 hectares of vineyards, the family-run Vigneti Cenci rears the traditional vines of Franciacorta, namely Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc. These varieties grow on soils rich in skeletons, conglomerate gravel and mineral substances, with excellent exposure to the southwest. The grapes are harvested by hand in boxes and then gently pressed, with the must fermented at a controlled temperature. In order not to alter the expression of the territory and the vines, the sugars used for the preparation of the syrup of drawing come only from the grapes themselves, thus excluding the use of exogenous sugars for the taking of foam according to the Classic Method. The same philosophy characterizes the dosage operation following prolonged refining on yeasts.
The bubbles produced by Vigneti Cenci are appreciated for their rich mineral tone, as well as for fragrance and savoury, attributes derived from the quality of the territory and the careful winemaking process adopted by the winery.
