Ippolito 1845

The Ippolito winery is the guardian of a winemaking tradition whose roots reach deep into the history of Calabria, dating back to 1845. Here, between the heart of the Cirò Marina area and the gentle hills overlooking the Ionian Sea, the Ippolito family has transformed a passion into a life project that today, in its fifth generation, continues to embody the most authentic essence of Calabrian wine. From the very beginning, the winery’s goal has been to recover and enhance indigenous grape varieties such as Gaglioppo, Greco Bianco, Calabrese, Pecorello, and Greco Nero, which tell the story of an unbreakable bond with their land.

The Ippolito estate manages over 100 hectares of vineyards spread across the Mancuso, Feudo, and Difesa Piana estates—historic areas in the heart of the Cirò DOC. Here, the vine finds ideal conditions among sun-drenched hills and breezy plains, trained mostly using horizontal spur-pruned cordon systems, with a small portion cultivated as tall alberello vines. Yields are kept low, and the most important vineyard operations are carried out strictly by hand, following an approach that protects biodiversity, limits soil erosion, and favors organic farming techniques. During the harvest, every cluster is the result of careful selection. It is here that the destiny of wines such as Cirò Rosso, the modern Colli del Mancuso Riserva, and more experimental labels like Pecorello and Pescanera is decided.

In the cellar, the Ippolito family blends tradition with modernity. The experience gained over more than a century and a half is combined with contemporary winemaking technologies to bring out the highest quality. Selective vinifications, controlled fermentations, carefully planned aging, and rigorous monitoring of every stage of production ensure wines that speak clearly and powerfully of their origin. The goal has remained unchanged for 180 years: to produce wines that are elegant, distinctive, and faithful to their land.
